Looking Back On The 2013-2014 Year
The past year has been an exciting one at St. Joe’s, marked by many accomplishments – from clinical innovations at the bedside, to growing levels of engagement with Toronto’s west-end communities.
This year’s multimedia-based Annual Report showcases these developments from your community Health Centre over the past 12 months. It’s also a chance for you to hear directly from our leadership, staff, and patients through a series of videos.
The report features stories of patients who have overcome health challenges thanks to the innovative approaches to care from our clinicians. It also features heartfelt messages from our interprofessional staff, physicians and volunteers on why they love being a part of our team. There is also data and statistics revealing the strides we have taken to improve the quality of care we provide every day.
As the 2013-2014 report shows, it is a privilege for us to care for our growing community.
On a typical day last year, over 260 people visited our Emergency Department, over 700 more visited our ambulatory clinics, and around 9 babies were born. Hundreds of patients each day had specialized procedures, including surgeries and diagnostic imaging procedures. The numbers mean tens of thousands of people stepped through our doors in the past year.
We have been a part of your community for over 90 years, impacting countless lives by the care we provide. This relationship works both ways, and all of you impact our teams as well. We look forward to building and strengthening our relationship with our community in the years ahead.
We encourage you to learn more about the care we provide by browsing the five sections of this Annual Report: Quality & Innovation, Patient Experience, Community Engagement, Teaching & Learning, and Our People.
Each highlights a different aspect of the work we do and showcases the people who are the heart of this organization and live out our values of respect, dignity and compassion every day.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Greetings from the Catholic Health Corporation of Ontario
St. Joseph’s Health Centre is one of 16 organizations that comprise the Catholic Health Corporation of Ontario Family which offer a diverse range of programs across the healthcare continuum, serving residents of ten communities in Ontario.
As Sponsor of these 16 organizations, CHCO has a responsibility to ensure the Founding Sisters legacy of the healing ministry of Jesus continues in times of change. This includes high quality care delivered through leading practice; identifying service gaps and offering new services to those most in need; caring for the whole person (body, mind, spirit); prudent use of resources; and strong governance and leadership.
The Founding Sisters were innovators, and we need to follow their example as our healthcare system changes. Collectively, we are a strong and sustainable footprint of Catholic healthcare across Ontario. We are called upon to lead, collaborate, innovate and influence to improve healthcare and service where the needs are greatest, especially for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized.
We are proud to have St. Joseph’s Health Centre as a member of the CHCO Family!
